But more and more couples leave a single pattern and love is understood in many different ways. February is the best month of the year to plan a trip to the world class snowy destinations before the spring sun reaches us and all the snow melts.
Winter is almost on its way out, so if you still want to bust out the skis and break into the comfy hug of warm coats and jackets, February is a good time to go for honeymoon in a romantic getaway, glamping sites in forests, cozy mountain lodges and more. February is also a month for festivals like the Chinese new year and mardi gras.
Huge carnivals can be enjoyed many places in Venice, Italy, in Rio de Janeiro or Manaus, Brazil, or if you’re looking for something cheaper, the Canary Islands. Some of the best places to visit in February for honeymoon are the Caribbean island, the big apple in the east coast or among UNESCO world heritage site and cobblestone streets in Europe or a national park near San Francisco.
If you're looking for some travel destination, then might I suggest you go somewhere a little bit...different. To me, it feels like most travelers all go to the same selection of places. I've lost count of how many people on my Instagram feed are in Australia, Thailand, Bali, Paris, etc. There's nothing wrong with these destinations - they must be excellent if everyone’s going there - but it's nice to have an experience that feels brand new.
So, why don't you consider a few of the lesser-known travel destinations - the hidden gems of the world! The earth is a massive place, which means you can uncover some underappreciated locations with ease.
Sorting through memories around the globe - the mountains of New Zealand, Montenegro, and Switzerland, the remote regions of Argentina, China, and Peru, the oceanfront of northern Norway, southern Chile, and Lord Howe Island, and the exotic aura of India, Brazil, and Egypt - all of this is so diverse and unique and worthwhile. It’s so unfathomable to reduce the planet to only a few of the world’s highlights.
Here in this travel blog are some best places to go for valentine's day staycation and plan a tour.
1. Azerbaijan
Did you know there’s a city that looks very similar to Dubai in many ways that most people have never even heard of? Let me introduce to you Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The first thing that’s unusual about Baku is that it’s the lowest lying national capital in terms of sea level and also the largest city below sea level.
But what’s really unusual about Baku is its architecture. After all in how many cities can you find historic Islamic buildings right next to skyscrapers? And the modern architecture is stunning! Where do you start? Okay maybe the 597 foot flame towers, which are absolutely beautiful at night? Or how about the innovative Heyder Aliyev Center?
2. Shekhawati, Rajasthan
Wondering how to make your winter even better? The answer lies with a 6 hour drive from Delhi NCR, in the town of Shekhawati. If you're looking to take a fun road trip through Rajasthan, then drive over to Shekhawati. Nothing brings people together like a roadtrip! Take a spin on the highway, with a drive from NCR to Shekhawati in Rajasthan.
Shekhawati, located in northern Rajasthan, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to visit in the state and the country. The fancy havelis of this place will leave you spellbound. You must visit this place, which is believed to have the largest concentration of frescoes (associated with mural paintings) in the world, to witness the ethnic and glorified history of India.
Most of Shekhawati’s walls are adorned with intricate designs so the region is dubbed “the world’s largest open air gallery." The arresting stories that the murals tell make strolls through town feel like an adventure! Art House is our haveli that regularly organises bonfires and folk music nights, both brilliant ways to commemorate Valentine's day.
Goenka haveli museum is a nearby attraction that gives visitors a glimpse of what life in the region used to be like. The Laxmangarh fort and the cenotaph of Sardul Singh are also must-visits for history buffs.
Mountains might feel a tad too cold - the tropics too far. But the perfect spot is just over in Rajasthan. Don’t forget to explore the havelis and village before you decide to call it a night in your own exclusive space.
If you enjoy old havelis and tradition, then head on over to the heart of Shekhawati. The open-air galleries are both home and learning. Experience folk performances, a johra dinner, and a lovely walk through the old town to understand the heritage of the place.
Looking to enjoy some old-school Rajasthani hospitality and some old world charm? With intricately designed interiors, an open traditional architectures, and proximity to the villages of Mandawa, havelis are a great chance to wind down while also exploring a forgotten time of history.
Shekhawati is one of the many regions predominantly occupied by the Rajasthan merchants. It is home to several grand havelis and temples built by wealthy merchants. In fact, the Shekhawati region comprising Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu and Nagaur is one of the most aesthetically appealing destinations in India. Shekhawati also enjoys being referred to as an open-air museum.
This open-air gallery is super underrated - and the wonderfully restored havelis are the perfect chance to experience some royal treatment! Have a picnic on the sands, take a walk through the village, chill by the pool, and enjoy some folk and dance along with delicious food! Enjoy a night at The Art House - akin to an open air gallery - with folk music, outdoor picnic dinner, and tons of gup-shup.
3. Ushuaia, Argentina
Within close proximity to Patagonia, one of the most devastatingly beautiful places on this planet, Ushuaia welcomes visitors to the bottom of the world with its quirky buildings set against huge mountains.
4. Nile, Egypt
Go cruising on the Nile in Egypt. The temperatures should actually be quite pleasant this time of the year, and the sights along the river are timeless.
5. Tehran, Iran
If you plan to travel to Iran, it is very possible that Tehran will become your gateway to the country. Despite being less spectacular than Isfahan, Shiraz or Persepolis, the capital of the country also has its charms. You cannot miss the Tabiat bridge. In Tehran there are two towers that are iconic like the Azadi tower and the Milad tower.
It has an octagonal base that symbolizes traditional Persian architecture and has two panoramic observatories, one exterior and one interior. In addition to telecommunications facilities, it has a luxury restaurant and an art gallery. The entire complex has a congress center, a hotel, a shopping center and a business center.
6. Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve, Chile
Adventurous couples should consider taking a trip to the Patagonian forest in Chile where they will have one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day. The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve offers various activities such as kayaking, rafting and mountain biking if that is something you are into but you can also go horse riding, fly fishing and sailing.
The great thing here is that there are many ways to experience this area, such as sleeping beneath a waterfall in the egg-shaped Hotel Montaña Magica where the rooms look like wooden cabins.
Then, you can also sleep in pods among the trees in the Canopy Village which will allow you to get closer to the birds and give you a unique view of the local wildlife. Moreover, the Nothofagus Hotel & Spa is something that will truly take your breath away and make you feel like you are inside a tree. For some romantic alone time, you can ride a cable car or take a dip in the hot springs.
7. Turkmenistan
It is located near the center of Asia at the cross-roads of civilizations and was once part of the ancient Silk Road. Ashgabat, its capital city, looks like a city straight out of a sci-fiction movie. It is also filled with bizarre monuments made of white marble. It holds the Guinness World Record for the city having the highest density of white marble-clad buildings.
8. Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is a gem from the central Asia! It's a part of the historically significant silk route. So it's bound have a rich culture, heritage, warm people with some of the amazingly beautiful mosques in the world! Equally beautiful architecture will be found especially in Samarkand, the grand city of the Silk Road, and capital of Tamerlane.
While this is in no way an exhaustive list, but these are some of the best places to travel in February for those who love the cold winter breeze. February is here, so get packing and to explore your favorite winter destinations!
